CHARM school will teach you how to design and create your own interactive mapping exercises and analyses through ArcGIS and CommunityViz software functionality. This is a free, three-day training program for GIS staff and planners supported by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, North Central Texas Council of Governments, and FEMA.

  • Overview of the CHARM platform, software, and supporting datasets

  • Create your own interactive mapping exercises through CommunityViz functionality

  • Step by step instructions for creating customized exercise assumptions, dynamic attributes, scenario indicators, and live charts in ArcGIS

  • Bring together core functions of CommunityViz to create a sim-city style mapping exercises and live analyses, such as a customized social vulnerability index and risk awareness exhibits

  • Develop your own hazard-based modeling exercise using these skills
